the question is to write or not to write
Well, I am excited to be back!
I got a little maybe a long 🙂 break from writing and publishing online- it wasn’t a decision but more like going with the flow moment.
With the AI distraction: I as a writer slowly started to feel less and less motivated to write. basically about anything. seeing how fast AI can write, working a single blog post for a week felt like losing time. in other words the value of writing felt much less valuable than it used to be.
And around this time last year, there were thousands of articles on how X person used Y AI platform, service, api, tool to create Z and make xyz amount of money. it is still common to see these kind of articles but not as much as those times. i was tired to see almost the same thing everywhere. the homepage of my medium was filled with them.
Of course- as the time passed the trend got less and less trendy. (luckily.)
I want to read something new. something different. I want to get inspired not feel poor of not being able to make 2024 dollars a month using this simple AI tool as a side hustle.
So what happened after a year — I felt the need to start writing. to connect with people. to use words to express thoughts. to write a programming article to inspire someone on the other side of the world. hearing back from my audience through my blog is one of the best feelings.
The other day, I came across this quote from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off:
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller
it made me think. and think again. and then I thought: writing also feels like stoping and looking around once in while. to stop time and to look around with our thoughts. with our pencils. with our mechanical cool keyboards.
sometimes it is hard to find something interesting to write about, but remember; isn’t “writing” interesting enough. sometimes all we need is to write. the rest will come. we never know what will resonate with who.
Looking forward to what the waves of life will bring to the coast…
I am Behic Guven, and I love sharing stories on programming, education, and life. Subscribe to my medium to stay inspired. Peace,
